Clever Betsy
ECHO first started in 1990, they aim to offer disabled people in a variety of different activities and get involved in the local community. In 2003 they became a charitable company and received lottery funding. The company has grown significantly and now runs 25 different activities with 100 volunteers and 20 part time staff.
In July 2012 the ECHO Shop opened. The shop gives people support and the opportunity to learn new skills and produce products to be sold in the shop, which then goes back into funding the project. Products made include; cards, rugs, knitted items and decorative light shades. Also they sell other disabled artists work.
The ECHO shop has recently launched its self as Clever Betsy. It was officially opened by Mayor of Leominster Molly Cook who has worked with similar projects in the area for many years. Many local business people and those who are involved with the project, turned up to support the relaunch. The shop was full with a really friendly atmosphere and plenty of stories about the shop and the people involved.
If you want to support the project you can either volunteer or can simply contribute fabric, beads, ribbons and any other craft materials.
They support local projects such as Leominster in Bloom where they contribute items they have made.
